Biography

BOOM.BOOM.CLAP. is a pair of dj’s from Vancouver, Canada. One of them has formal musical training, while the other has a background in audio engineering. They can be found spinning in clubs around Vancouver and Whistler, playing anything from old school hip hop, electro, reggae, dubstep, and everything in between. The general rule of thumb being, the dirtier the beats they can get away with playing, the better.

The duo doesn’t take the musical scene, or life for that matter, too seriously. They met after a day of snowboarding in Whistler when one of them came home, still wearing his shredding gear, dumbfounded by the stranger who was standing behind his turntables blasting Drum and Bass – with no pants on. After struggling to find a name to call themselves, the name “BOOM.BOOM.CLAP.” got blurted out. After a chuckle and a high five, they decided it was so bad that it was hilarious, and it stuck. The name contains a deeper meaning, however, alluding to the kicks and snares of the 808. Not to mention a cool gun reference for extra street cred.

Their unique combination of punchy drums, confident synth lines, and hip hop infused samples make this duo a production force that commands attention from the bass community. Look out for BOOM.BOOM.CLAP. in 2010.
