Biography

Looking back at the first time I’ve had the pleasure to touch cd decks and the path that has led me to where I am now … I can say I haven’t got a clue how this is all remotely possible ! I started out mixing top 40 and indie rock in cegep parties and at Saphire. Then I started promoting the psytrance rave scene doing a radio show called “Nation Insomniaque” on CHOQ.FM. I also threw raves with Natural Disasters and Ravedave Production.

Nowadays I mix bass oriented music. Although I play mainly dubstep I do have a keen interest in all the spheres that surround my sound so you can’t be too surprised to see some breaks, electro, dnb and even some minimal in my record bag !

I’m resident and organizer of the Forward Music Montreal Nights alongside the rest of the Forward crew. Forward is all about the urban electronic music culture. We promote all sorts of music ranging from dnb, jungle, breaks, dubstep, reggae, electro, garage (and the list goes on) …

Biography

Graish grew up in Macclesfield, a small town in the north-west of England. He learned to play guitar at the age of 16, and started beatboxing and MCing a couple of years later, forming the crew SND (Seeking New Directions.) The crew is comprised of graffiti writers, MCs, DJs and beatboxers.

In 2003, Graish was introduced to Reason, and music production. He got himself a computer and started to make beats. He incorporated beatboxing and guitars into his tracks, and learned how to record live instruments. It was during this period that Graish learned to DJ, practicing with a friends extensive jungle collection.

In 2005 Graish moved to Barcelona, where he is currently living. You can catch him most weekend spinning jungle and dubstep with his fellow crew members Matilda Sanchez and DJ P-edd.

Graish’s music is influenced by jungle, hip hop and dub, and usually incorporates some amen breaks, heavy basslines, and dub elements.

Biography

Auckland based trio Echo Company, aka Static, Levitate and Beman, migrated north from their home town of Wellington in 2008. All have roots in the New Zealand Drum and Bass scene and have been Djing separately, clocking up flight points around the country, for over 3 years. In that time they have supported numerous International acts including Logistics, TC, Jakes, Futurebound, DC Breaks, Utah Jazz and Brookes Brothers as well as well known locals The Upbeats, Agent Alvin, Truth, Optimus Grime and Antiform. Static also placed 2nd 2 years running in the national Drum and Bass djing competition “Rumble in the Jungle” New Zealand’s long running premiere Djing competition.

2009 saw a switch to the more wobbly side of things when the trio started getting heavily into Dubstep, This sparked many late nights spent in the studio trying to rewire Drum and Bass brains to 138bpm and even more noise complaints from the flat upstairs.

Aiming towards the darker side of the spectrum Echo Company’s sub heavy production has always been about having a bit of a laugh, with nothing taken too seriously. This can be heard in their creative sampling, as anything from a steel fan to a toilet plunger feature in their tracks.

Biography

Jonathan Montoya Chacón aka Sonotech .

Started as a musician after 1997 when software and computing became a new hardware to be a independent artist, influenced by all that memories lived back in his childhood.

Sonotech started to produce music full of latin sounds and lots of hip hop, breakbeat, drum and bass. Doing an album with a local band call (Radio Tigre Internacional) one of the best latin bands in venezuela, as a producer he start to look for a new sounds and after a travel he has to England started to be interesting into the electro funk, dubstep, and basslines to be be add on his music, doing remixes for people like Dj Vadim, Sarah White , People under the Stairs , Wax Tailor among others.

His work goes as a travel around experimental sounds, for music inspired by his own life and moments , from : kuduro , dub , electro , basslines, house , jungle , electronica and sound he have not discover yet.

Biography

Coming from the Sunshine State, Cheebs is no stranger to making music. This prolific and talented producer has been making and mixing music since he was 16 years old.

After switching from producing hip hop for 10 years, Cheebs produces Ddbstep that contains solid and infectious drum patterns and heavy bass lines that rattle windows and make hearts palpitate. Hungry and ready to eat, Cheebs is a go getter that isn’t afraid to push the limits with whatever he creates, trying to keep the ideas fresh and the synths dirty.

Stay on the look out and keep your ears open for anything new from him because it’s sure to be something epic !

Biography

Bankster has been playing and producing bass music since 1995 under many different names (Hardsteppers, Highrollers, Sase One & Roll It Up).

His tunes have a signature dubwise feel to them with many nods to dancehall, dub and reggae.

He has moved from Montreal where he helped mould the now flourishing dubstep scene & now lives in Vancouver.

Expect many new tunes and dubplates to be rattling a stack of subs near you in 2010.
